But first, let me take a CÉLFIE!

But first, Let me take a Celfie

I have never really been a fan of having writing across my chest as I feel my boobs already draw the eye, but when Yours Clothing contacted me about this Celfie T-shirt I have to admit I was a little excited. I make a big deal about dressing out of societies comfort zone so I excited to spend my day with people reading my boobs and I discovered that I actually really like statement T-shirts and have already started looking for another one.

I am away in London for a week so my clothing options are limited so  pair this tee with my Scarlett & Jo prom skirt and use it as an opportunity to show the skirt really dressed down.

This is just a really quick post to show off the T-shirt, I surprisingly really love it. The fit is really nice too, It has a dipped back and a slight puff sleeve.  Available here if you want a better look.

I went to a plus size clothing swap in North London and then went to see my aunt to say Happy Birthday, drop off her present and of course for the abundance of food and cake! I then went on to meet some friends for drinks in town and stayed out til the wee hours and I got a lot of compliments on the outfit throughout the day.

My necklace was one that I picked up in the ASOS sale and this is the first time I’m wearing it but I really love that too.

British Plus Size Awards feat. Estella

On Saturday night I was lucky enough to attend the British Plus Size Awards held in London because my best friend won two tickets, she was also a nominee for  best blogger WannabePrincess.

I wore a Beautiful Lady V London Dress. This is the Damask print Estella Dress Designed by the gorgeous George at Fuller Figure Fuller Bust I have this dress in three prints as I am in love with the style and think its a great dress for my shape.

My shoes, necklace and fluffy handbag are all from NewLook in the last two weeks and are all still available.

Overall it was a lovely evening, It was so nice to get all dressed up and have a really grown up sophisticated night, I’m more of a night out in a club type girl so this was a really nice change. We arrived to a champagne reception, which was lovely and it was so nice to see so many other bloggers in attendance. I’m usually really bad at taking pictures when I attend events so I made sure that I had my phone in hand at all times to snap a few pics.

The three course meal was really lovely, I had Pâté to start and then a beautiful beef roast dinner for main and had a citrus cheesecake for dessert.  It was so nice to see so many familiar faces in all their finery, I took a few pics with some fellow bloggers.

Me and the princess. (if you can’t tell, we love a good selfie) Saturday night was a great night for boobs and selfies lol

I think the nominees should have been given free tickets anyway if you ask me, it may have decreased the amount of ‘Unfortunately _______ was unable to attend to collect his/her award’ speeches. Aside from the lack of winners attendance it was a great evening with some really fun entertainment. I especially enjoyed the humour of presenter Matt Johnson. But I would have to say the highlight of the evening, performance wise, would definitely have to be by Ashleigh Owen. I have seen her perform before at the Hamburger Queen finals and she was amazing then too, a very well deserved standing ovation from our table.

Considering this is an event I wasn’t planning on going to I had a really nice time and got a chance to catch up a lot of people that I already know from various areas of my life, whether it be my makeup work, blogging or my general social nights out and I would definitely be up for going again should another ticket fall into my lap.

Lastly I would like to say a massive congratulations to all the winners and nominees on the night xx

Lucia Laid Bare

I, like a lot of women, love to get all dressed up… prettying up my face and put on something cute.
I love experimenting with my hair and changing up my make-up looks to suit my mood/the occasion.
But I wanted to to a blog post that was basically just me stripped back from all the extras saying… Look, This is me… The real me.
No make-up and No extra hair

This is my natural hair, The hair that I was born with. No straightening techniques, no hair managing products, just my hair as it grows out of my head. I love braids and weaves and wearing my hair straight etc… but I also love my natural hair. My hair is big and wild and difficult to manage just like me!

I have poor vision so I need glasses, and I love those too lol, I like the way I look in glasses and  think everyone can look good in the right pair of frames. Day to day when I’m out running errands and such I don’t wear any make-up and I kind feel a bit like a fraud when in all my blog posts I’m all made up. So this blog post is just basically a short post showing you all the real me.

All the dressing up is so fun but I always strip back to ‘Me’ and have recently realised that that is just as great.

Also if anyone is interested in me doing any hair posts just let me know x

My love of Zara grows and grows

Another Zara for the collection.

You won’t usually find post about accessories on my blog but this is something I just had to share, Last week I bought the most gorgeous Zara bag to add to my collection, I absolutely adore Zara bags and I have done for a long time, Obviously I don’t only buy Zara bags but I find that when I’m looking for a new bag that is where I go first.
My sister (after me buying her, her first two Zara bags) also has a love for them, she bought the original Zara city bag when it came out and I fell in love with it when I saw it, I was very tempted to buy it but it was a little expensive for a bag that I knew I wouldn’t use much.
The city bag was perfect for my sister as she was in college at the time, the bag is perfect for paperwork, books and folders etc, but as I was working from home I didn’t really need it. After visiting London last week and being out and about with my sister and her bag my love was reignited and as soon as I got back home I was on the hunt. I knew Zara no longer stock the bag and apparently so did the people selling them on eBay because the price was still super high, So I went on the Zara website in what I thought would be a futile attempt to find something similar and the handbag angels shone their light on this little beauty.

The Zara City Business Bag

Something I didnt realise til I actually had the bag is that it actually holds a laptop in the centre compartment, This is brilliant for me as I am always travelling,
My 15″ laptop fits in the zip compartment perfectly with more than enough room to zip closed.
I actually prefer this Zara city business bag to the original Zara city office bag (pic below)
Something that had bothered me was seeing my sister zipping and unzipping all the pockets trying to find what she was looking for (imagine searching for Oyster card on a packed bus while the driver waits… yeah…that) So I think the business back with the two popper compartments and the one zip compartment makes things a lot easier, I will be keeping all my valuables in the middle zip pocket and chucking everything else in the other sides.
This is probably my favourite of all my Zara bags, Its so beautiful and I love that I can wear it with so many things, I will be just as comfortable wearing it with a nice dress and shoes as I would with jeans and converse.
Also this bag is only £29.99!!!!!!!

Aldi Special Buys & Special Size

Special Buys and Special Size

I was recently contacted by Aldi to see if I was interested in reviewing a couple of their pieces, I was a little sceptical at first because their plus size range stops at a size 24 but in the spirit of what my who blog is about I decided to say yes and see if I would be able to make a size 24 work for me.

I have tried a chunky knit cardigan and a pack of two tops, both available here on this list of special buys products

The two pack of tops and the chunk knit cardigan both sell for only £10.99

I am really impressed with the sizing of these items I got both items sent to me in their biggest size (24) considering I wear a size 30/32 I didn’t think they would fit at all.
I am totally in love with the tops, they come up massive, If I didn’t know any better and hadn’t seen the label I would say they fit like a size 30, I love how long the sleeves are and I love how long the torso is.

*please excuse my face in the pics, I’m really poorly at the moment but wanted to get this post out so you guys don.t miss out on the offer*

I will literally be putting these tops on under everything as the weather continues to get colder, I don’t have any long sleeve tops like this so I am really glad I have these now.
I also really like that the two top have different detailing
The cardigan also comes up quite big although I do prefer it unbuttoned, Its a nice little chunky knit piece although I don’t think it will be keeping anyone warm.
I’m mostly impressed with the generous sizing and the good quality, I would love to see more ‘fashionable’ pieces making their way into the range but at the moment it is very good quality and good prices for your basics.

Floral and Lace out to BunnyChow

Love this ASOS curve skirt, I love how the little florals and the lace make it so granny-fied lol

I saw this skirt on the ASOS website and knew I had to have it but the original price was £45 which for me was just a little too much for a skirt. As soon as I saw this skirt in the sale for £13 I chucked it into the basket, It was out of stock in a size 28 which is what I ideally would have liked but for £13 I was willing to risk a size 26…. and I am so glad that I did, the skirt fits like a dream.

I love the mix of lace and floral as its so pretty and girly, Its a great length so I’m happy to wear it without leggings (I wore it with leggings on this occasion as it was freezing in London). I just wore it with a plain black top, a tan belt and tan brogues 🙂

*Debz at WannabePrincess has also blogged this skirt here if you want to see it on someone else*

I wore this outfit out in Soho to a new food restaurant called Bunny Chow, They are now open to the general public and I strongly advise you go check them out. They are a street food restaurant that serve food originated in South Africa, your meal is served to you in a little bread loaf that absorbs the flavours from whatever dish you chose and you get to eat your ‘bowl’ when you are done.
I chose the Bunny Dog which is Baby Cumberland sausages, onion gravy, blue cheese and mustard. It was absolutely delicious and the bread bowl had sopped up some of the gravy and was so nice to eat afterwards. I will definitely be going to try out another bunny next time I’m in London.

They also offer a range of sweet treats including what I had for ‘dessert’, it was an apple with spiced fruits in the middle, everything is so well presented and delicious.

I
I also got a lemon muffin to take away with me.
All the little extras are really nice but what will have me going back again and again is most definitely the Bunnies.. Its such a good idea and so tasty.
Have you tried anything like this before? or do you know of any other fun places to eat that I may want to try????

My little bit on Plus North

Quick little post about Plus North.
Now that I live in the Midlands I am a lot closer to all the northern events, so as soon as the plus north tickets were released I got mine even though I was still living in London at the time I knew the event wasn’t til after my move.
Me at Derby station waiting for my train (don’t look all that excited but trust me I am! lol)
I was going straight to the event as we couldn’t check in that early so I was dressed for plus north and had my face on. I did really simple make up so I would find it easy to turn it into a night look without bringing too many items with me.
I don’t have any pictures of what I wore during the day at plus north, Here is a picture taken by Yours Clothing of Me and Debz from Wannabe Princess.
I wore a pair of jeans, a black Tee and a check shirt, probably the most comfortable outfit you can imagine but after weeks of debating on what to wear I woke up that morning and that was how i felt most comfortable.
I stuck with the monochrome check for my evening outfit too, I wore the Check Bandeau dress from Asos
Loving this bag at the moment, one I picked up from Chunky cat Cuddler at StyleXL
shoes are from Primark x
I didn’t take many pictures of the actual event, which I kinda regret now. I was more interested in having a good time, seeing friends and meeting new people that I had been interacting with online.
Absolutely love this girl… Hollie of Pretty Big Butterflies
After a few glasses of wine I went round taking selfies with some familiar faces lol
Lisa – http://www.lisaphilbin.co.uk/
Rachel – http://www.adressisforlife.com/
In the evening I kept my makeup the same I just added a touch of black eye shadow to make the eyes a little more smokey and I was good to go.
bar bathroom selfie lol
After the evening event a whole bunch of us went out for a couple more drinks afterwards which I really enjoyed. I absolutely loved sitting and chatting with the other bloggers and can’t wait ti see everyone again at future events.
I had such a good time at Plus North and will 100% attend again, I really wish I went last year but I was really really new to blogging and didn’t know what to expect. I would now advise anyone who thinks they might enjoy it to come along as its such a great event and friendly atmosphere.

Simply Be Style Challenge – Embellished Dress

I was recently contacted and asked if I would like to participate in a style challenge for Simply Be, so of course I jumped at the chance! Being right at the larger end of the plus size fashion size range, I thought it would be a brilliant opportunity to show how you can make certain items work for you at any size.
What I enjoyed most about doing the challenge was taking a piece that wasn’t my ‘usual style’ and make it something that I would actually wear just through the styling. I kept the outfit pretty simple going for something that I would feel comfortable in.
We were asked to style the dress for a specific occasion, I didn’t want to focus too much on the occasion until I had the outfit on. Once I was dressed I decided that the place I was most likely to wear this outfit would be out for cocktails with the girls.
This is how bright the cami is, It doesnt show well at all in the outside pics)
I wore a neon orange cami underneath and paired it with a neon green handbag. I am in love with little neon pops of colour this summer and love throwing them in everywhere.
I wore this with a pair of old jeans that I cut up and a pair of Primark shoes.
I really like the dress and I love the shape it gives my body, Its very feminine and a very versatile piece.
I got this gorgeous neon green clutch bag from chunkycatcuddler who had a stall at the StyleXL event this month. They had it in three colours and the bag is absolutely stunning.
A little look at the shoulder embellishment on the dress
When the dress arrived I noticed just how ‘grown up’ it is, and i immediately knew I would be dressing it down for the challenge, The embellishments on the shoulder and the chiffon material make it it seem very dressy and would be what I would describe as an occasion dress, I wanted to take away from that feel with some denim but still wanted it to be suitable for an evening out.
I cant wait to see what the other ladies involved have done for the style challenge.

It’s True Love – an ode to the Kimono

Any of you that read my blog or follow me on any form of social media you will know that I have a not so little obsession with Kimonos.
The kimono trend is one that I have fallen head over heels for, they are so versatile, I love that I am able to dress them up or down.
In some of my previous posts I have pictures in Kimonos dressed up and with more casual outfits.
For the purpose of this post I am showing my kimonos all with the same simple black outfit of a midi skirt and tucked in vest top just so that the kimonos are the focus.
This one is the Floral Print Kimono from Pink Clove
The pictures don’t do the colours in this kimono any justice at all, it is so lovely and vibrant. I love wearing this kimono to add a little summer to any outfit.
This is the Multi Print Floral Kimono from Yours Clothing
This Kimono I got in a size 36 so it is super comfy and I have enough material for it to come together when its windy, I tend to wear this one on casual days with leggings and a T-shirt.
This is the Floral Print Sheer Georgette longline from Yours Clothing
This is probably my most grown up and sophisticated of all my kimonos and the one I wear the least.
This is the Tropical Floral Print Kimono from ASOS Curve
This one is my favourite for casual days with jeans and a pair on converse.
The newest addition to my Kimono collection is this one…
This is the Neon Peach Oriental Floral Kimono from New Look
I got this one for my birthday last week and is my new favourite, I absolutely adore the colours and the light and airy fabric, It is coming in so handy at the moment because London is scorching hot.
I have just realised while writing this post that all five of my kimonos are floral print…. hmm maybe time to hunt for one with something else on lol
Whenever I am out and about and see a Kimono I always try it on just to see if I fall in love with it. I am trying so hard not to buy any more but they seem to call to me. One thing I do know is that I will continue wearing Kimonos long after the trend had died. I think they are the perfect item to throw on on a hot day and I’m actually looking forward to when the cold weather comes back so I can wear them with jeans and a roll neck jumper and boots…doesn’t sound awesome but trust me, just wait and see!!!
Are any of you as in love with these as I am? I can’t see how anyone can live without one lol
Thank you so much for stopping by xx

Krazy for Kimonos

Oh the Kimono!

Over the last few weeks I and everyone else have been going ‘Krazy for Kimonos’.
I literally want all the kimonos in the world. I cannot find a single fault with the trend, they are just so perfect. They are perfect as a summer cover up for people who don’t like to show their arms etc. as the Georgette fabric ones are so light and airy. They are also such a nice way to dress up an outfit.
I plan on writing a post on kimonos in general featuring all the kimono that I have so I’m not going to go on and on here about what I love about them.
This post is just about one kimono in particular. This kimono is actually my favourite at the moment. I’m usually kind of fickle in that I am usually in love with my most recent purchases but this time its not the case. This my second kimono out of four and it is the one I love the most.
If you read an earlier post I did about plus size shopping in Derby you would have seen that I visited the Yours Clothing store and tried on a few pieces, I didn’t actually intend to buy anything but once i tried on this kimono I wasn’t prepared to leave the store without it!

This was when I tried the kimono on in store.

I wore the kimono the very next day to go to lunch with the bestie!

Absolutely love this kimono, it is literally everything a Kimono should be. I love the Japanese feel floral print and I love the neutral colouring.
Me with a pair of old Dorothy Perkins sunnies.

I wore this outfit out to dinner with my best friend and boyfriend, once again my old Evans jeans that I cut up and my Primark wide fit T-bars.

This Kimono is perfect and I know I will be wearing it loads this summer, what is your summer 2014 go to item?
