British Plus Size Awards feat. Estella

On Saturday night I was lucky enough to attend the British Plus Size Awards held in London because my best friend won two tickets, she was also a nominee for  best blogger WannabePrincess.

I wore a Beautiful Lady V London Dress. This is the Damask print Estella Dress Designed by the gorgeous George at Fuller Figure Fuller Bust I have this dress in three prints as I am in love with the style and think its a great dress for my shape.

My shoes, necklace and fluffy handbag are all from NewLook in the last two weeks and are all still available.

Overall it was a lovely evening, It was so nice to get all dressed up and have a really grown up sophisticated night, I’m more of a night out in a club type girl so this was a really nice change. We arrived to a champagne reception, which was lovely and it was so nice to see so many other bloggers in attendance. I’m usually really bad at taking pictures when I attend events so I made sure that I had my phone in hand at all times to snap a few pics.

The three course meal was really lovely, I had Pâté to start and then a beautiful beef roast dinner for main and had a citrus cheesecake for dessert.  It was so nice to see so many familiar faces in all their finery, I took a few pics with some fellow bloggers.

Me and the princess. (if you can’t tell, we love a good selfie) Saturday night was a great night for boobs and selfies lol

I think the nominees should have been given free tickets anyway if you ask me, it may have decreased the amount of ‘Unfortunately _______ was unable to attend to collect his/her award’ speeches. Aside from the lack of winners attendance it was a great evening with some really fun entertainment. I especially enjoyed the humour of presenter Matt Johnson. But I would have to say the highlight of the evening, performance wise, would definitely have to be by Ashleigh Owen. I have seen her perform before at the Hamburger Queen finals and she was amazing then too, a very well deserved standing ovation from our table.

Considering this is an event I wasn’t planning on going to I had a really nice time and got a chance to catch up a lot of people that I already know from various areas of my life, whether it be my makeup work, blogging or my general social nights out and I would definitely be up for going again should another ticket fall into my lap.

Lastly I would like to say a massive congratulations to all the winners and nominees on the night xx

Joe browns on the Town!

The perfect dress?
As the weather has gotten warmer one of my favourite dresses to wear has been the Joe Browns Colourful Coral 50s Dress *(very kindly gifted to me to review) I can sometimes struggle with the fit of the 50s style dresses but I found this one sat very well on my body.
I love that the dress has a structured feel when wearing it, it is 98% cotton and 2% elastane, There is enough stretch in it for it to hug me in the right places and I would say it is a perfect fit and I love the way it makes my boobs look, this is definitely a great dress for ladies with a large bust.
The material is a little thicker than most of the other dresses I have been wearing and I was worried that I would be way too hot in this dress but I haven’t been, I think that’s where the benefits of it being cotton come in.
This dress feels a bit like magic, its thick enough to give that structured authentic 50s feel but the fabric is very breathable so can comfortably be worn on a hot summers day.
After deciding that this dress would not have me sweltering I decided to give it a go on a night out in a club…
I love the big prints on this dress. This fat girl loves large prints!!!!
I don’t know what people were thinking saying big girls cant wear large prints, I think it looks fantastic! I love the coral in the dress and it’s such a welcome addition to my dress collection because I have nothing else like it.
I wore this dress on an evening out with a pair of leggings, nude shoes from Primark and a nude clutch from New Look
I’m a really big fan of this dress, I think it looks beautiful on and I think it is the perfect shape/material for a bigger girl who wants to flatter her shape.
I personally am not all that interested on flattering my body, I just wear whatever I feel good in, but I do understand that not everybody feels the same way I do. I feel very comfortable in this dress though and I feel that it looks good on my body so I will be wearing this again and again.
I think this is very close to being a perfect dress, It fits like a dream and is beautiful to look at.
Joe Browns… I am impressed!
*This dress was kindly gifted to me for review purposes, all opinions expressed here are true and my own* I really do LOVE this dress!

10 year old me finally got her wellies!

I don’t know what other little girls were like but I know when I was little I loved the rain and always hated the summer, as a big girl nothing has changed.
I remember being part of an after school programme to transform an old area of my primary school into a little conservation space with a pond. As soon as we were told a small number of us could sign up I immediately put my name in hoping I would get chosen. The next day I was given a letter to take home to my parents saying that I along with 9 other students were chosen to be part of the transformation team. I was so excited and couldn’t wait to get started. In the letter was a list of items that were compulsory for the project one item being Wellington boots.
My mum took me out one day after school in search of a pair, being a girl of 10 years old I wanted a pair of the cute boots that were on sale in all the stores that we looked in. Unfortunately after visiting a few shops I was noticing a pattern, none of the nice Wellington boots would fit me. I wore a UK size 8 and had a sumo wrestlers calves. The only boots that I cold get on were the old green ones from the men’s section and they looked so big and clumpy that I refused to let my mum buy them.
I remember being really sad and not wanting to face the group of volunteers wearing my regular trainers, then to make things worse I was told by the teacher that I was not allowed to take part in the project because of inappropriate footwear. Long story short my mum made an appeal to the teachers because I so badly wanted to take part and I spent a few evenings a week until the conservation area was complete being forced to wear a pair of the male teachers Wellington boots.
On the market recently there have been a ton of wide fitting boots available to women with larger calves which I think is fantastic. unfortunately I have still struggled to find any that fit me, I tend to go for ankle boots as they cut off before my leg gets massive. I have tried on wide fitting wellies in recent years and they just weren’t wide enough. I had made peace with the fact that my calves are just too big to wear certain boots until…
I recently heard about a company called Jileon – The wide calf welly people!
I went on to their website to have a look and I came across a youtube video they made showing just how wide their wellies expand to and it was only then that I had a glimmer of hope, I thought surely even my huge calves could fit in them.
I saw these and I knew I had to have them, I didn’t want to get my hopes up because I knew that the little girl in me would be devastated if they didn’t fit. When they came in the post I was scared to try them on, I was at home with my boyfriend just looking at them and telling him how beautiful they are (which he found quite amusing) but he couldn’t understand why I was scared to try them on.
Anyway after just cooing over them for a little while I tried them… I am not even embarrassed to say that  was a little bit emotional at the fact that I, ME! had on a pair of cute wellington boots. Its times like these that make me so glad that I write a plus size fashion blog because all I kept thinking was that I couldn’t wait to tell all the other girls with really big calves that they too can have a nice pair of wellies.
I have very, very, very large calves and these boots are very comfortable around my leg.
I have to wear the boots at nearly full extension, which doesn’t bother me at all. They are absolutely gorgeous and I can now go and play in muddy puddles! 🙂
My super chunky leg and my super cute wellies.
I love the dress and wellies look!
I am literally dying to find a local festival that I can attend with cute wellies on and a flower garland in my hair lol
There are so many ways you can wear Wellington boots and I can’t wait to start playing around with them.
I spent the whole afternoon walking around my house and garden in my wellies because I was so happy, I was half tempted to wear them to my local asda to do the weekly shop lol
Massive thank you to Jileon Wellies who gifted me these boots to review. All opinions and thoughts in the blog post are my own.

My Birthday week so far…

Hello home slices.
My name is Lucia and I am a shopahol…. Just kidding. I actually don’t know what to write so this is pretty awkward, I think I’m just gonna talk to you guys about my week so far. I am visiting my hometown of London this week, I came down on Sunday so that I would be able to celebrate my birthday (which was on Monday) with my family and friends. I didn’t really have anything planned but I thought it would be nice to be home. I left my boyfriend in Derby as he was going to be working anyway.

I went out with my sisters and cousins on the Monday evening, we just had dinner and cocktails in Wetherspoons in Angel, and after cocktails turned into shots I was ready for bed. It was a lovely quiet night. Didn’t take many pictures but here are the ones I do have from that evening.
Pretty casual birthday outfit.
Oh god the shots!
Fresh cream and white chocolate birthday cake (That’s 30th not 50th btw!)
Pub selfie with one of my sisters.
I had some lovely presents delivered to me from a certain Princess who was unable to be there for my birthday due to a big move of her own. I got a beautiful Kimono that I have been after for ages and she knows I am Yankee Candle obsessed so I got some lovely smellies.
On Wednesday night I went out for dinner and drinks with a few friends. We went to a Mexican street food restaurant called Wahaca in Angel (seems like I don’t veer very far from the Angel lol) and then onto the Glassworks for drinks afterwards. As you can see from the pics below I wore my newest Kmono that I got from my Bestie and a simple black maxi dress.
My Wednesday night outfit.

Not gonna give any info on the outfit as I will blog about this one soon.
Moving away from London was a big change for me as I was born and raised here so it’s been really lovely being able to see all my London friends and family.
I will be staying in London for a few more days as it’s my mums birthday on Sunday, then I will make plans to go back home.
I don’t really have much going on here til I go home, All I know is that I need an emergency trip to Mac as I have zero eyebrow products here lol

Hope everyone is having a lovely week and I hope you liked this post.

Putting on my big girls pants.

A company that I love, that offer plus size women great quality and an extensive range of hosiery and under garments are The Big Bloomers Company.
They have pieces in their range that start at a size 12 and go all the way up to a size 42
Being at the larger end of plus size this is perfect for me.

A problem a lot of women have, not just plus size women, but also women with large thighs, is chafing. The big Bloomers Company sent me a pair of their Anti-Chafing Knickers to try out and I was pleasantly surprised. I chose the long leg version in black as I wanted something a little longer so I would be able to wear skirts without leggings and not worry so much about the wind showing everyone my secrets lol.

I could argue these are more like an anti chafing cycling short as I wore them with knickers underneath.

The material is super stretchy and super comfortable, you could even size down if you wanted a little support.

not the best pic but you can get an idea of the length on me. (and they are pulled all the way up over my tummy)

I am a shorty, standing at a pint sized 5ft 2″ so these came up quite long on me but the fabric allows for manipulation so I ended pulling the legs up a bit and they were still totally comfortable.

I love that I can wear these under a skirt in the summer without them showing and still avoid ‘chub rub’ but i wont be embarrassed if the wind does blow up my floaty skirts and dresses.
These are going to come in so handy for the summer, the material is so comfortable between the thighs.
If you are a shorty like me I suggest getting the short legged version.
Have you tried any of their other products? Do you have any recommendations?
Thanks for reading guys xxx

Its Hammer Time! Love these trousers.

Its Hammer Time!
I have been seeing a lot of people embracing the ‘Boyfriend’ style, jeans and blazers etc…
Being a size 30/32 its near impossible to have anything that is oversized and baggy, even items that are sold as ‘oversize’ are still just a tad close fitting when you are not able to size up at all.
I recently discovered that Yours Clothing have expanded their range and now have over 200 items available up to a size 36!
This have given me the opportunity to size up in items that I would like to have more room in.
Yours clothing have kindly gifted me a couple of items for me to share with you that I have sized up in to create looks that I would normally be unable to achieve.
The first item I want to show you is a pair of Cotton roll up crop trousers.
I chose these for a couple if reasons, Firstly I wanted to be able to wear a dressed up ‘Boyfriend’ look and also because summer if fast approaching and I like that these trousers are so light and airy.
Here I wore them with a simple white camisole and a denim men’s shirt that I got on eBay a year ago and added silver collar tips to.
I love how big and baggy these trousers are, It feels a little like Hammer Time lol
These trouser have a drawstring tie at the waist so I can have it secure on the waist and super loose everywhere else. These are a great trouser for people who are concerned about our good old VBO (Visible belly outline)
I am wearing my new white Lo Converse all stars.
I tied the shirt up to make the look a little more feminine but I really like it either way.

I am showing two looks that I like with these trousers because I think they are so versatile, they really are a nice wardrobe staple that can be worn for any occasion.
I wanted to show that these casual trousers can also be dressed up and look amazing.
I wanted to show that you create altogether new look, suitable for evening with the casual trousers and the same camisole but adding heels and a blazer.
I personally love this look and I think the laid back casualness of the trousers is what makes it. I love the whole ‘I just threw this on but still look great’ kinda look.
I have on a pair of black suedette heels from New look and an oversized grey New look Inspire blazer. I changed the costume jewellery that I had on also and I really like the all together look.
I will definitely be getting a lot of wear out of these trousers this summer and another great thing is that they are only £15!
There are so many different ways that these trousers can be styled and i am definitely looking forward to playing around with them.

Pretty in Purple – 99p Dress Challenge

99p Dress Challenge – Pretty in Purple.
I have to admit when I first say this dress on the website I wasn’t really a fan. It looked far too grown up and I didn’t plan on buying it.
Out of the five 99p dresses the navy polka dot is my favourite by far so that’s the one I bought.
I couldn’t quite resist the fact that the dresses were 99p so I got my sister to place an order too so I could get this one also.
I like this dress so much better on than I did when it was pictured on the site.
I absolutely love the fit and how ladylike it makes me feel. I’m not sure what occasion I will find to wear this dress but I styled it specifically for this challenge and im so glad I did because I love how it looks and will definitely be wearing it this way when I get the chance to wear it.
For all you lovely ladies who p-refer not to have your arms on show, I put on a black shrug that I got from a little shop in America, and it works really well with the dress.
Have to say I really like this dress now
I paired this dress with a pair of leopard print heels I got from Torrid. I wanted to stay clear of simple black shoes and bag etc as I am hoping I have styled the dress differently to the other ladies taking part in the challenge.
My Shoes are from Torrid I pick up while in Florida
New look clutch I got for £1 at the plus London market evening.
I’m looking forward to seeing how all the other ladies styled their dresses…

Love Love Lovehearts Summer Onesie

My “Summer Onesie” from Yours Clothing came in the post today and I love it!
I have a few onsies and I love them to bits so when I spotted the two summer onesies that Yours have available I knew I had to have one.
I bought the Love heart Print one and they also do a pink cherry one.
In the summer it gets way too hot to wear some of my other ones.
These onesies are cotton and sleeveless and I can wait for the weather to warm up a bit so I can wear onesies all year round.
Never put a pic up of myself in my jammies on my blog before but I couldn’t not its just too cute.
This is my ‘Build a bear’ Bella in her blog debut lol
I love this so much I’m thinking about getting the other one too as I know I will be sad once they are all sold out.

*I bought this myself and all views are my own.

Does anyone love onesies as much as I do????

My mish mash quirky OOTN

I can’t believe I haven’t done this outfit post yet. It is by far one of my favourite outfit that I have worn this year.
I wore pretty standard face makeup and brightened it up with a lilac lip – Lime crimes Airborne Unicorn.
The necklace is a cute rose gold statement necklace I picked up recently in new look.
and lets not forget my ‘Geeky’ glasses from ebay.
I put on a couple of different ‘party’ type dresses before I put this lot on and I don’t know why none of it felt right, I was in a fun and quirky mood so I pulled out loads of bits and bobs and threw this together.
OK, so let me talk you through it…
I have on a Size 16 top from H&M (once again the importance of ignoring clothes sizes, this top is meant to be really really oversized on a size 16 person)
My Domino Dollhouse skirt that I picked up on eBay (later found out it was from a fellow plus size blogger lol)
A New Look leopard print clutch that I got for £1 at the plus London market evening
and finally a pair of boots from Simply Be
A pic of me out that evening 🙂
I really want to start wearing more fun outfits like this.
What do you guys think???

Ms Curvaceous UK

Ms Curvaceous UK 2013

On Sunday I attended Ms Curvaceous UK at the Camden Centre in Kings Cross.

This event was unlike any of the other fashion/bloggers events that I have been to recently, as soon as I walked in I was greeted with the smell of West Indian food and immediately thought of my childhood, I straight away bumped into some familiar faces which pleased me no end

Syreeta Badu fashion designer, Gemma Cruickshank fashion designer, Hollie Pretty Big Butterfies, and Debz Wannabe Princess
I wasn’t sure what to wear to the event so I ended up keeping the outfit really simple and focusing on the makeup. I wore an Evans skater dress, leggings and a pair of flat brown ankle boots again from Evans

The jacket/cape is from Topshop… and will feature in a future UCantWearThat Blog Post!

I enjoyed the whole night, the fashion, food and entertainment were all fantastic.

There were performances by Bashy, James Anderson, Che Lingo and Afro Beats artist Ezi Emela (who I really really enjoyed)

Ezi Emela – My favourite performance of the night

There were 18 beautiful finalists competing for the title of Ms Curvaceous and it was lovely to see them all walking the runway in some amazing fashions from Syreeta Badu, Dea London.

Above are my personal faves from the Syreeta Badu Collection.

I was happy (as I always am) to see plus size women being celebrated, I would however have liked to see some even more curvy women in this competition , which I think has less to do with the event organisers and more to do with what the industry describe as plus size… but that’s a separate issue.

The finalists
The winner of Ms Curvaceous UK 2013
All in all I have a really enjoyable evening and am really looking forward to attending again next year, I’m going to be on the lookout for similar event… if anyone knows of any please let me know.
