#WeAreTheThey ‘They’ can’t wear that!

A week on and #WeAreTheThey has been popping up all over the place. This post is about what ‘They’ shouldn’t be wearing. Being that my blog is called UCantWearThat! I was really excited to do this.

Instead of writing loads about what society says ‘They/We’ shouldn’t wear I’m just going to show you a ton of pictures of me going against some of the so called fat fashion rules.

Fat girls shouldn’t wear crop tops and fat girls shouldn’t wear figure hugging dresses are probably my favourite fat fashion rules to break.

Below are some pics of me rocking the hell out of some tight dresses and some of me with my belly out for the world to see.

As long and you are happy and feel comfortable with it then there is nothing that UCantWear lol

Are you ready for the party season? I am!

Its the start of December and in my eyes we have officially hit party season with so many festive events coming up I have been preparing all my outfits for each event.

Two weeks ago I received a Party Survival pack from Fashion World and I when I opened it I thought all the little items were such a good idea for party handbag essentials and it made me think about what other extras us ladies might need over the party season aside from the perfect dress and shoes.

I think my idea of what is essential in a night out bag maybe very different to some of you but I will let you know what my essentials are anyway…

Items I will not leave my house without when off on a night out, besides the obvious, keys and money etc;

  • Tissues
  • Lip balm and lipstick
  • Compact Mirror
  • Spare hairband
  • Comfy flats (How big is my bag, I know right!)

The Fashion World part survival pack consists of hair pins, hair spray, emery boards, vaseline and body tape. I love how small each of the items are so you can fit all, or whichever you need, comfortably into a small party bag.

Fashion World have also created an online Party Season Survival Guide that is full of hints and tips and suggestions for ways to get through the party season without a hitch.

An item that I have been introduced to recently is Wingz, which when I first saw them I figured they would be every plus size woman’s dream.  No more falling in love with a dress and having to bypass it because it doesn’t have sleeves. Wingz have a wide range of arm covering piece that don’t effect the overall look of your outfit aside from covering your arms.  They have different lengths and materials so you don’t have to cover your entire arm if you don’t want to.

w3

They have plain stretch sleeves that can be worn with everyday outfits and loads of different material, colours and patterns to suit what you are looking for. Perfect for the party season they have more dressy Wingz to complement you party dresses. w1 w2

Personally I am a fan of the lace Wingz, I love a bit of lace! lol

*Excuse the makeupless face, I just wanted to show what the Wingz look like on me*

Half sleeve Wingz, Full sleeve Wingz

I love the lace Wingz, I love that I can cover my arms without covering up a pretty dress. I prefer the look of the long sleeve lace sleeves but the short sleeve ones are more comfortable for be because I have really large arms, I have however heard on the grapevine that they are going to being introducing a larger size (size 4) for trial in March next year which is very exciting news,

As you can see from the pics I have the short sleeved lace and the long sleeved lace Wingz, I’m thinking of getting the plain stretch Wingz so that I can wear more of my vest tops in the colder weather and just for throwing on under jumpers because I’m always cold.

These are something I wish I knew about a few years ago as I hated having my arms on display, they really are a great item to have as yo can literally wear them with anything.

I know I mentioned this a little earlier but I always carry a pair of comfortable flats in my handbag on a night out. I know some companies to small foldable shoes made specifically for carrying around with you but I always find them really uncomfortable. I have found that Primark always have sooooooo many cute little dolly shoes in these days and their wide fit section just keeps getting better and better.

IMG_0528
These are the Primark wide fit flats that I have most recently been chucking into my oversized clutch bags.

There must be a ton of places to pick up cute flats but for a pair that’s just for chilling in your handbag for ‘just in case’ times I think Primark is excellent for little cheapies.

Do you have any tips for me for the party season or anything a little bit different that you always keep on you just in case? I would love to hear them 🙂

*Wingz were very kindly gifted to me for review*

But first, let me take a CÉLFIE!

But first, Let me take a Celfie

I have never really been a fan of having writing across my chest as I feel my boobs already draw the eye, but when Yours Clothing contacted me about this Celfie T-shirt I have to admit I was a little excited. I make a big deal about dressing out of societies comfort zone so I excited to spend my day with people reading my boobs and I discovered that I actually really like statement T-shirts and have already started looking for another one.

I am away in London for a week so my clothing options are limited so  pair this tee with my Scarlett & Jo prom skirt and use it as an opportunity to show the skirt really dressed down.

This is just a really quick post to show off the T-shirt, I surprisingly really love it. The fit is really nice too, It has a dipped back and a slight puff sleeve.  Available here if you want a better look.

I went to a plus size clothing swap in North London and then went to see my aunt to say Happy Birthday, drop off her present and of course for the abundance of food and cake! I then went on to meet some friends for drinks in town and stayed out til the wee hours and I got a lot of compliments on the outfit throughout the day.

My necklace was one that I picked up in the ASOS sale and this is the first time I’m wearing it but I really love that too.

British Plus Size Awards feat. Estella

On Saturday night I was lucky enough to attend the British Plus Size Awards held in London because my best friend won two tickets, she was also a nominee for  best blogger WannabePrincess.

I wore a Beautiful Lady V London Dress. This is the Damask print Estella Dress Designed by the gorgeous George at Fuller Figure Fuller Bust I have this dress in three prints as I am in love with the style and think its a great dress for my shape.

My shoes, necklace and fluffy handbag are all from NewLook in the last two weeks and are all still available.

Overall it was a lovely evening, It was so nice to get all dressed up and have a really grown up sophisticated night, I’m more of a night out in a club type girl so this was a really nice change. We arrived to a champagne reception, which was lovely and it was so nice to see so many other bloggers in attendance. I’m usually really bad at taking pictures when I attend events so I made sure that I had my phone in hand at all times to snap a few pics.

The three course meal was really lovely, I had Pâté to start and then a beautiful beef roast dinner for main and had a citrus cheesecake for dessert.  It was so nice to see so many familiar faces in all their finery, I took a few pics with some fellow bloggers.

Me and the princess. (if you can’t tell, we love a good selfie) Saturday night was a great night for boobs and selfies lol

I think the nominees should have been given free tickets anyway if you ask me, it may have decreased the amount of ‘Unfortunately _______ was unable to attend to collect his/her award’ speeches. Aside from the lack of winners attendance it was a great evening with some really fun entertainment. I especially enjoyed the humour of presenter Matt Johnson. But I would have to say the highlight of the evening, performance wise, would definitely have to be by Ashleigh Owen. I have seen her perform before at the Hamburger Queen finals and she was amazing then too, a very well deserved standing ovation from our table.

Considering this is an event I wasn’t planning on going to I had a really nice time and got a chance to catch up a lot of people that I already know from various areas of my life, whether it be my makeup work, blogging or my general social nights out and I would definitely be up for going again should another ticket fall into my lap.

Lastly I would like to say a massive congratulations to all the winners and nominees on the night xx

Still blossoming in Winter.

Since Scarlett & Jo became available in Evans they have been producing item after item that I have lusted over. I, like everyone else on the planet fell in love with the infamous prom dress but by the time I was able to buy it everyone and their cat already had it. Then the prom skirts came out and I knew I had to have one. A little late to the party (or prom lol) again I now have a beautiful Scarlett & Jo prom skirt. They are still available HERE on the Evans website on sale and in three colours.I chose the purple because with winter approaching I wanted something that was dark enough to wear throughout the colder season but with the vibrant flowers it still stands out beautifully.

The skirt has an elasticated waistband and is so comfortable, I have on a size 30 and it fits great so you could easily size down if need be. The skirt has a built in tulle underskirt and feels so girly and ‘flouncy’ to wear. It really feels like a luxury piece when you have it on. I know with all my extra padding I shouldn’t need the help of tulle to fill out the skirt but it just makes it so pretty.

This is just going to be a really picture heavy post as the skirt is so gorgeous!

This is probably my favourite skirt at the moment and I can’t wait to see what Scarlett & Jo come out with next. They have some beautiful vintage jersey dresses in at the moment. Go check them out.

Thanks for reading x

Lucia Laid Bare

I, like a lot of women, love to get all dressed up… prettying up my face and put on something cute.
I love experimenting with my hair and changing up my make-up looks to suit my mood/the occasion.
But I wanted to to a blog post that was basically just me stripped back from all the extras saying… Look, This is me… The real me.
No make-up and No extra hair

This is my natural hair, The hair that I was born with. No straightening techniques, no hair managing products, just my hair as it grows out of my head. I love braids and weaves and wearing my hair straight etc… but I also love my natural hair. My hair is big and wild and difficult to manage just like me!

I have poor vision so I need glasses, and I love those too lol, I like the way I look in glasses and  think everyone can look good in the right pair of frames. Day to day when I’m out running errands and such I don’t wear any make-up and I kind feel a bit like a fraud when in all my blog posts I’m all made up. So this blog post is just basically a short post showing you all the real me.

All the dressing up is so fun but I always strip back to ‘Me’ and have recently realised that that is just as great.

Also if anyone is interested in me doing any hair posts just let me know x

A message to my sisters (That means all of you!)

If you read anything I have ever written, please let it be this xxx

Today I heard a big beautiful girl talking about how she wants her daughter to have more opportunities than she had, she wants her to have an easier life… which is fair enough and I expect most people would want the same for their children, then I heard her say something that absolutely stunned me.. She wants her daughter to be beautiful so that she can have that better, easier life,
Now it is often said that pretty girls have things easy but I would have to disagree. Just because you deem a person to be pretty/attractive this does not mean they have ‘things’ any easier than you do.
My heart hurts when I think about young girls who have been told by friends, family and/or society that they are not beautiful, whether that be told directly or indirectly.
I think instilling confidence into young people is the key to them being able to achieve all the things they want out of life.
This morning after hearing this I put up a Facebook status that read

If I had a magic power it would be to make all the girls (and women) in the world know how beautiful they are, it breaks my heart when I see/hear a beautiful young women who truly doesn’t know her worth. Feeling beautiful and having confidence is truly one of the most powerful things in the world! I believe this more than any of you will ever know.” – Lucia Morris

This status was liked by many of my friends and family but I had so much more to say on the topic hence this blog post.
I have a beautiful 18 year old sister and it made me think about how she sees herself, and it would kill me to think she sees herself as anything less than the amazing, bright and beautiful young woman that I have watched her grow into so through tears I sent her this message through Whatsapp;

“you are one of the most beautiful people on this planet, inside and out. I love you more than you will ever know. I hope to god you value yourself as much as I and everyone else who knows you does. x”

We continued to have a very mushy conversation, which I will refrain from adding here, It was so lovely and heart warming to hear how much my impromptu message meant to her and made me wonder if had had a confident plus size influence when I was that age would I have viewed myself differently and in turn had a better experience growing up as a extra plus size girl.
My sister is not a big girl, she is a size 16 and extremely beautiful but by her own admission has some issues with body confidence (as I am sure many girls do at that age). I don’t want a lack of confidence to prevent her (or anyone else for that matter) from accomplishing anything at all that she wishes.

I have two sisters and it goes for them both.
Me and my two sisters <3

I want my sisters to love themselves from right now, not when they get older and develop an IDGAF attitude, going into new social situations like starting university and work, self confidence is the foundation of the amazing people they are going to be.

I don’t usually talk much about confidence on my blog but I think this is a massive issue in the plus size community, I don’t want to continuously write about pretty dresses, yes I do think its very important for people to see that a woman my size has many clothing options and I also think it is important to show that you can be as big as I am, be confident and be happy. These are the things I wish I had known at a much younger age and I feel like I would be doing a disservice having this platform and not reaching out and saying YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL.

I’m going to be honest and say I have no idea what the point of this blog post is but I just feel so strongly about young girls knowing their worth and feeling beautiful. I think a confident girl will become a confident woman and a confident woman can accomplish anything. I don’t think people realise the power of self confidence and I know it is something I have only discovered in the last three years or so, But I know now that it is something that I want to share with everyone that I can.

Joe browns on the Town!

The perfect dress?
As the weather has gotten warmer one of my favourite dresses to wear has been the Joe Browns Colourful Coral 50s Dress *(very kindly gifted to me to review) I can sometimes struggle with the fit of the 50s style dresses but I found this one sat very well on my body.
I love that the dress has a structured feel when wearing it, it is 98% cotton and 2% elastane, There is enough stretch in it for it to hug me in the right places and I would say it is a perfect fit and I love the way it makes my boobs look, this is definitely a great dress for ladies with a large bust.
The material is a little thicker than most of the other dresses I have been wearing and I was worried that I would be way too hot in this dress but I haven’t been, I think that’s where the benefits of it being cotton come in.
This dress feels a bit like magic, its thick enough to give that structured authentic 50s feel but the fabric is very breathable so can comfortably be worn on a hot summers day.
After deciding that this dress would not have me sweltering I decided to give it a go on a night out in a club…
I love the big prints on this dress. This fat girl loves large prints!!!!
I don’t know what people were thinking saying big girls cant wear large prints, I think it looks fantastic! I love the coral in the dress and it’s such a welcome addition to my dress collection because I have nothing else like it.
I wore this dress on an evening out with a pair of leggings, nude shoes from Primark and a nude clutch from New Look
I’m a really big fan of this dress, I think it looks beautiful on and I think it is the perfect shape/material for a bigger girl who wants to flatter her shape.
I personally am not all that interested on flattering my body, I just wear whatever I feel good in, but I do understand that not everybody feels the same way I do. I feel very comfortable in this dress though and I feel that it looks good on my body so I will be wearing this again and again.
I think this is very close to being a perfect dress, It fits like a dream and is beautiful to look at.
Joe Browns… I am impressed!
*This dress was kindly gifted to me for review purposes, all opinions expressed here are true and my own* I really do LOVE this dress!

Money saving Monday.

A little indiscretion but well recovered lol

Abi from AisforAbi came up with the idea for some bloggers to take part in a July spending ban, I happily and somewhat hastily jumped at the chance to be part of the challenge and to save some money.

‘Welcome to Money Saving Monday, as a blogger I am always looking through websites and searching shops for the next item of clothing or beauty purchase. I recently begun to realise that I don’t need all that I am buying and instead of spending I can use the money to save for something that is worth more than clothes, shoes and bags. So let’s comb through our wardrobes and empty those makeup bags for items we haven’t loved much recently and are gathering dust!’

This post is less about alternatives to shopping and more about my little failure but next week I will defo be here with something a little more positive 🙂

We are now half way through the month and I would love to say that I have stayed on track, but I haven’t. I do however think so far it has been a success, I bought a dress and a handbag from New Look totalling £24.50. The reason I would still count the month so far as a success is because I would have bought a hell of a lot more in the last 14 days had I not been thinking about the spending ban each time I went shopping. The dress and the bag I bought were both for my birthday night out (doing a spending ban on your birthday month maybe wasn’t such a good idea) but I am very happy that so far I’ve been doing well (in my own opinion) after I made the purchase I decided to continue on the ban and I have been doing well ever since. So even though I haven’t exactly been entirely successful cutting out the spending completely I am still saving money by not giving up after the first hiccup, which was what I joined the challenge for in the first place.

This is the dress and the bag – well worth the fail if you ask me lol

I hope all the other ladies taking part are doing well and you can find out for yourselves on each of their blogs below;

My Birthday week so far…

Hello home slices.
My name is Lucia and I am a shopahol…. Just kidding. I actually don’t know what to write so this is pretty awkward, I think I’m just gonna talk to you guys about my week so far. I am visiting my hometown of London this week, I came down on Sunday so that I would be able to celebrate my birthday (which was on Monday) with my family and friends. I didn’t really have anything planned but I thought it would be nice to be home. I left my boyfriend in Derby as he was going to be working anyway.

I went out with my sisters and cousins on the Monday evening, we just had dinner and cocktails in Wetherspoons in Angel, and after cocktails turned into shots I was ready for bed. It was a lovely quiet night. Didn’t take many pictures but here are the ones I do have from that evening.
Pretty casual birthday outfit.
Oh god the shots!
Fresh cream and white chocolate birthday cake (That’s 30th not 50th btw!)
Pub selfie with one of my sisters.
I had some lovely presents delivered to me from a certain Princess who was unable to be there for my birthday due to a big move of her own. I got a beautiful Kimono that I have been after for ages and she knows I am Yankee Candle obsessed so I got some lovely smellies.
On Wednesday night I went out for dinner and drinks with a few friends. We went to a Mexican street food restaurant called Wahaca in Angel (seems like I don’t veer very far from the Angel lol) and then onto the Glassworks for drinks afterwards. As you can see from the pics below I wore my newest Kmono that I got from my Bestie and a simple black maxi dress.
My Wednesday night outfit.

Not gonna give any info on the outfit as I will blog about this one soon.
Moving away from London was a big change for me as I was born and raised here so it’s been really lovely being able to see all my London friends and family.
I will be staying in London for a few more days as it’s my mums birthday on Sunday, then I will make plans to go back home.
I don’t really have much going on here til I go home, All I know is that I need an emergency trip to Mac as I have zero eyebrow products here lol

Hope everyone is having a lovely week and I hope you liked this post.
