So Mushroom in this dream dress. A review

It’s been a long long time since I’ve raved about a dress, so if there has ever been a time to listen to what I say…. This is it!!

If I was asked to think up my dream dress I would ask for a midi length to hit just below my knees, I would want sleeves, either shirt sleeves or ¾ length. I would want a material on the heavier side so it’s not blowing all over the place and so that I wouldn’t have to wear a jacket. I would ask for fun prints because obviously!
I would want a skater shape because that’s what I like the most on my body and I like the casual look. I would want pockets, again because OBVS. I would want it to be affordable because I would want at least a few and most importantly I would want it to come in a large range of sizes because there is nothing worse than finding a dress you absolutely love and then learning they don’t make it in your size.

I have found that dream dress!!!!

Scarlett & Jo have done it again.

11887865_1156253967721692_3130286126569420753_nI am very excited about some new items set to be released by Scarlett & Jo in the coming weeks as well as the launch of their own website soon.

I have blogged about quite a few of the S&J items that I have as I am a big fan (I still can’t get enough of my fit and flare tunic which is the first S&J item I ever bought)

I was gifted the below dress and Initially I wasn’t sure if it was very ‘me’ but when I tried it on I realised how perfect is is for me. I am a massive fan of standard skater dresses because I am usually a very casual girl and I love the comfy skater dress fit.

This navy kimono dress is like a grown up and elegant take on a classic casual skater dress and I love it.  I don’t often do chiffon type fabrics because I find them very dressy but this just works and I think its the perfect mix of the grown up and dressy fabric on a simple skater shape.

I have dressed it up as much as I personally every would with a delicate necklace and the highest heels I can comfortably walk in.

I got so many compliments on this outfit and the dress is super super comfortable which I love because I didn’t feel like I was dressed up. This dress is very flattering on the body and gives a really nice shape.

I am going to leave you with a couple of my favourite pictures in the dress.IMG-20150807-WA0030IMG-20150807-WA0032

I styled the dress with a nude handbag from asos and nude heels from Primark.

The Curve Fashion Festival. Let’s go!

Over the last couple of years we have seen more and more plus size fashion events popping up, I try to go to as many of them as I can to support the community and to hang out with blogger friends.

Its always nice to have your finger on the pulse and know what brands have coming soon etc and its also really nice to see the clothing items being modelled on plus size women in the flesh.

One of the things I personally find very beneficial is having the brands at the events with some of their items so I am able to be get hands on with the clothes. the whole reason  started blogging was to show that clothing size labels can definitely be ignored in a lot of cases so I like being able to feel fabrics and give them a little stretch to see if it is workable for me.

The next big event coming up is The Curve Fashion Festival, it will be their first event and they have literally come from nowhere and to me it seems like their motto is go big or go home because it looks like they have some amazing things in store for us all including have Tess Holliday at the event!

The event is taking place at Manchester Central (Formerly known as The G-Mex) and there has been a lot of chat about it amongst the bloggers so I reckon its set to be very popular. I for one am really looking forward to this one and am very excited to see the big debut of this event.

They have a number of big name brands that will be attending including Evans, ASOS and New Look as well as some amazing smaller brands that cater to the plus size community with some lovely pieces like Topsy Curvy and Nicky Rockets.

This all day event is packed full of things to do and look at whatever it is that might take your interest from catwalk shows to the seminars and the market hall.

Tickets are available to purchase here!

I, along with a number of other plus size bloggers, will be attending this event. It is open to bloggers and non-bloggers alike and I think will be a fun day for all. Every time I attend one of these events I always end up coming away with some goodies and a ton of memories and pics of a brilliant day with friends doing things that I love… shopping and looking at pretty clothes.

Are you planning on going? let me know and come say Hi 🙂

#WeAreTheThey ‘They’ can’t wear that!

A week on and #WeAreTheThey has been popping up all over the place. This post is about what ‘They’ shouldn’t be wearing. Being that my blog is called UCantWearThat! I was really excited to do this.

Instead of writing loads about what society says ‘They/We’ shouldn’t wear I’m just going to show you a ton of pictures of me going against some of the so called fat fashion rules.

Fat girls shouldn’t wear crop tops and fat girls shouldn’t wear figure hugging dresses are probably my favourite fat fashion rules to break.

Below are some pics of me rocking the hell out of some tight dresses and some of me with my belly out for the world to see.

As long and you are happy and feel comfortable with it then there is nothing that UCantWear lol

ASOS #HERESWHATIWOULDHAVESPENT

I am a huge fan of the ASOS Curve range so when Debz suggested Asos as the brand for this months #hereswhatiwouldhavespent challenge I thought it was a great idea because I dont think I have ever looked at the clothing items in the ASOS main range.

I knew what I was going to look for straight away, I went straight to the co ords section. Asos Curve have some beautiful co ord pieces in at the moment and I wanted to see what they had in the main range.
The most beautiful Co ord set I have ever seen in my life is this one…image1xl
I would really love to see a co ord set like this one in the Curve range as it is definitely something that I would pick up. After seeing this one I was a little disappointed in the co ords in the Curve range lol

I’m a big fan of statement skirts and this one is absolutely gorgeous, I’d probably prefer it in another colour or maybe a nice print but they style and fabric of the skirt is just gorgeous.

image1xl (1)

I have a skirt that is similar to this but I had it custom made to my measurements and was a little bit dear so it would be lovely to see a skirt like this sold up to my size available to purchase from a popular retailer.

I love what ASOS Curve is doing for plus size fashion so I don’t really have any real complaints but It was really fun to have a look through their main range at things I would have loved to be able to buy.

This is a really quick post but something I really wanted to take part in.

Any suggestions on where I can get anything like either of these items are more than welcome by the way.

See you soon guys x

The beautiful Cosette

I am going to talk like you have all been hiding under rocks and don’t already know this…

Georgina over at FullerFigureFullerBust, in collaboration with Lady V London, has released a new range of 12 vintage plus size dresses with a promise of more to come In her own line called Lady Voluptuous.  At the time of this post there are currently three styles in the range in a variety of colours and prints.

The Lyra dress

dress2

The Cosette

dress3

The Medusa

The dresses are absolutely stunning, I love the fact that Georgina has tried to add elements to each dress to make them appeal to different people. Everyone has their little insecurities and I think Georgina has kept these in mind when designing these dresses. The Cosette and The Medusa are perfect for me because I’m not a huge fan of my knees. I favour dresses that have a slightly longer length. I know a lot of people don’t like having their arms on show etc and each dress in the range has a different sleeve type. No collection will ever have every dress for every woman but the effort and thought that’s gone into this collection is evident.

Anyway…

The Cosette!!!!!

“Cosette was a condensation of auroral light in womanly form.”
Victor Hugo, Les Misérables

Ugh, So perf!

I was on the Lady V London website refreshing the page over and over again waiting for the collection to launch and the Rose Print Floral Cosette was the first dress that popped up on the home page and I instantly fell in love!

438A8214-01

The fit of this dress is very similar to the Estella that Georgina and Ladv V London brought out last year, The Estella was by far my favourite dress of all time and I’m not even kissing when I say love this dress even more.  This dress gives my body a shape I didn’t even know I had. Even without the belt my waist is accentuated and I love it!

Screenshot_2015-02-21-20-07-07I love every single thing about this dress, It literally feels like it was made for me. The length is perfect on my 5ft 3 body, it fits in the bust so well, just fr reference I wear a 46K. I was a little worried about whether the sleeves would fit because I have huge arms and I was very pleasantly surprised when the dress arrived. Another massive thing for me was the belt, In my eyes that was the true test because these has been so many times I have purchased a belted dress and Ive had to chuck the belt because it comes nowhere close to fitting. The belt on this dress has no stretch at all and it still *praise the dress gods (and Georgina)*

I love that even without the belt on I still have a waist in this dress.

PicsArt_1424607147444

This is the shape I have in the dress without the belt, the material has some stretch but still feels very structured.

Screenshot_2015-02-21-20-05-53 Screenshot_2015-02-21-20-05-59 I feel so sexy and ‘Pin up’ in this dress. I got so many compliments while wearing it out last night. I literally can’t gush enough about this dress or the line in general.

I want to say a massive Thank you to Georgina and Lady v London for keeping the super fats in mind when designing this line, it is very easy to exclude ladies at the higher end of plus size thinking there is just no demand, It genuinely warms my heart that some people recognise the need for sexy, fashionable, well made pieces for super plus size girls like myself. At the time of this post the dress I wearing is sold out in the four largest sizes of the six sizes available, proving that the fat girls are online in force getting these dresses and the line only launched 48hrs ago!!!!!!!!

*This dress was sooooooo kindly given to me to review to show that this dress looks just as banging on a size 32 as it will on everyone else*

Its a wrap!

This year I am a big fan of wraps and shawls or extra warmth. That year when everyone was wearing knitted ponchos I lived in mine so when everyone started selling wraps this year I was so excited.

I have written about Taking Shape before, Taking shape cardigan post here

Because Taking Shape don’t quite carry my size I love it when I get the opportunity to find items that still fit me really well by ignoring the size labels and this is another item that does that.

As soon as I saw this item on the website I knew I wanted it, I love outerwear, especially the items that are loose so I get the extra warmth without feeling to restricted. This is a big reason I am such a fan of wraps and shawls.

20141207_165035

This is the Taking Shape Bentley Wrap and retails on their website for £45.00  I absolutely love the geometric aztec print, I chose this print because it is so different from the other wraps/cardigan I am wearing this year. This wrap is a size Large and according to their size chart is a UK 24-26 and considering I am a UK 30-32 I think this wrap fits really really well.

I would say this is more of a cardigan than a wrap because it has sleeves but it is definitely a wrap style cardigan and is described as a wrap on the website.20141207_165212because the print is so bold I have been wearing it over very simply outfts.

*This Taking shape wrap was gifted to me for review purposes but was chosen by me 🙂

The other wrap I just can’t get enough of at the moment is the Yours Clothing checked wrap, after seeing so many bloggers styling this wrap I had to get my hands on it and it is just lush! I love how big it is, its like walking around in a blanket and I love that!

IMG-20141028-WA0019What are you wrapping up in this winter?

Tulle skirt around!

A few weeks ago this beautiful skirt was brought to my attention.

hmprod (2)

I knew I wanted it immediately. I have never bought anything from the H&M plus size department before so I didn’t know much about their sizing but that wasn’t going to stop me. Between placing the order and the skirt actually arriving I heard from many people that H&M items come up really small so I started to get a little worried.  The only thing that was going for me was that the skirt had a a stretch waist band and also that the lining was a jersey fabric.

PicsArt_1418035260436

The skirt took quite a while to be despatched and also took a bit of time to be delivered (which again is something H&M seem to be known for) but once the skirt arrived i was happy to forgive all sins because it was my dream skirt.

20141207_164243

The skirt is literally perfect for me. If it has a cotton lining it would likely be too tight and also if it has a non-stretch waistband it probably would not have fit. I wear a UK size 30/32 and I got this skirt in the largest size (3XL) and the skirt fit like a dream.

20141207_162724

Not only is it a stunning skirt I love the ribbon waist band it catches the light beautifully and adds that little something extra to the skirt.

20141207_16273020141207_164234

The skirt is so light and floaty and the movement is beautiful yet the jersey lining will always protect your modesty.

20141207_162023

I wore the skirt with the ASOS Curve cami with wrap front, this is what it looks like untucked from the skirt but I much prefer it tucked in.

My shoes are old Primark wide fit open toe flats in nide with a bow and they are super cute and comfortable. I think this skirt would look great with a pair of heeled sandals too but I personally would not be able to walk far in them lol.

20141207_162718

My Cardigan is an old Evans one that I tend to throw on, on a summers evening, Although it is farrrrr from summer at the moment I wanted to wear something light so as not to take away from this beautiful skirt.

20141207_164130

My clutch bag is this one from ASOS which I received as a gift from my Access All ASOS Secret Santa, and it came just in time to be paired with this skirt which was quite handy 🙂

I think this skirt would look great as part of a more casual look also, which I plan to do very soon, which makes it a very versatile piece and I know I will get a lot of wear out of it. I think this skirt was a steal at £19.99 and if they had more colours I would be buying more for sure, Unfortunately this skirt is now out of stock in every size but I’m hoping they have seen just how popular it is and get more, LOTS MORE!

But first, let me take a CÉLFIE!

20141123_172210
But first, Let me take a Celfie

I have never really been a fan of having writing across my chest as I feel my boobs already draw the eye, but when Yours Clothing contacted me about this Celfie T-shirt I have to admit I was a little excited. I make a big deal about dressing out of societies comfort zone so I excited to spend my day with people reading my boobs and I discovered that I actually really like statement T-shirts and have already started looking for another one.

I am away in London for a week so my clothing options are limited so  pair this tee with my Scarlett & Jo prom skirt and use it as an opportunity to show the skirt really dressed down.

20141123_125926 20141123_125944

This is just a really quick post to show off the T-shirt, I surprisingly really love it. The fit is really nice too, It has a dipped back and a slight puff sleeve.  Available here if you want a better look.

20141123_172118 20141123_172124

I went to a plus size clothing swap in North London and then went to see my aunt to say Happy Birthday, drop off her present and of course for the abundance of food and cake! I then went on to meet some friends for drinks in town and stayed out til the wee hours and I got a lot of compliments on the outfit throughout the day.

My necklace was one that I picked up in the ASOS sale and this is the first time I’m wearing it but I really love that too.

British Plus Size Awards feat. Estella

On Saturday night I was lucky enough to attend the British Plus Size Awards held in London because my best friend won two tickets, she was also a nominee for  best blogger WannabePrincess.

I wore a Beautiful Lady V London Dress. This is the Damask print Estella Dress Designed by the gorgeous George at Fuller Figure Fuller Bust I have this dress in three prints as I am in love with the style and think its a great dress for my shape.

IMG-20141113-WA0002In the hotel lobby showing off this gorgeous dress.

My shoes, necklace and fluffy handbag are all from NewLook in the last two weeks and are all still available.

Overall it was a lovely evening, It was so nice to get all dressed up and have a really grown up sophisticated night, I’m more of a night out in a club type girl so this was a really nice change. We arrived to a champagne reception, which was lovely and it was so nice to see so many other bloggers in attendance. I’m usually really bad at taking pictures when I attend events so I made sure that I had my phone in hand at all times to snap a few pics.

The three course meal was really lovely, I had Pâté to start and then a beautiful beef roast dinner for main and had a citrus cheesecake for dessert.  It was so nice to see so many familiar faces in all their finery, I took a few pics with some fellow bloggers.

Me and the princess. (if you can’t tell, we love a good selfie) Saturday night was a great night for boobs and selfies lol

I think the nominees should have been given free tickets anyway if you ask me, it may have decreased the amount of ‘Unfortunately _______ was unable to attend to collect his/her award’ speeches. Aside from the lack of winners attendance it was a great evening with some really fun entertainment. I especially enjoyed the humour of presenter Matt Johnson. But I would have to say the highlight of the evening, performance wise, would definitely have to be by Ashleigh Owen. I have seen her perform before at the Hamburger Queen finals and she was amazing then too, a very well deserved standing ovation from our table.

Considering this is an event I wasn’t planning on going to I had a really nice time and got a chance to catch up a lot of people that I already know from various areas of my life, whether it be my makeup work, blogging or my general social nights out and I would definitely be up for going again should another ticket fall into my lap.

Lastly I would like to say a massive congratulations to all the winners and nominees on the night xx
