Staying entertained at home.

Whether it’s the school holidays being a washout, staying at home because you’re unwell or the events of 2020 keeping you at home, there is always times when we have to stay home more than normal. I’m quite a homebody so I don’t mind, but I know that there are plenty of people that struggle without being able to spend time out and about, so I thought I would share some tips for staying entertained at home.

Find Something Good to Watch

Finding a TV series or set of films that you’re invested in is always a good idea. We all love a bit of background TV and that is fine, but something that you enjoy and want to watch really does help pass the time. I like things such as true-crime documentaries and as such, I know when these are on I’m not going to be mindlessly scrolling my phone, because instead I’m invested in watching the show and finding out what happens next.

Stay in Touch with Friends via Social Media

Staying in touch with the people you care about is important, even if this is not on an everyday basis. Group chats can be good if you don’t find them overwhelming but even just a message to stay in touch every few weeks is a good way of being entertained and staying in touch with what’s happening to friends and family.

Play Games Online

One of my favourite ways to stay entertained online is to play games. Sometimes this can be really extensive games that involve friends or other players and sometimes I just fancy a quiet game of something on my own. What I like about playing games online is that I have the choice; so whatever I am in the mood for I can be sure there is going to be something that I enjoy.

I’ve recently discovered plays.org which has loads of different games that you can just play within a web browser – I’ve found they work well on both my phone and laptop. What I like about the site is that the games are just there to play, you don’t have to download an app or log in to get started – which is great for when you just fancy playing a quick game of something with no fuss.  I’m often in the mood for fun games that don’t take too much brain power – Pac Rat is really fun if you like ‘Pacman’ style games. There are also loads of games based on comic books,

I haven’t had a chance to try them all but my personal favourite is without a doubt a game called Penguin café! There was a game I used to play online years and years ago called penguin diner so as soon as I found this website I searched for diner games and penguin café popped up straight away.

It’s exactly like I remember and just as much fun, I will definitely be book marking it to play in my spare time.

The main trick to staying entertained when you’re stuck at home is to make sure that you have a variety of things to do – this includes things that you love and new things to try.

If you have any online game recommendations I’d love you to share them below.
